Barbara Spohn-Lillo, CCA, CF-m
Board Certified Clinical Anaplastologist
Owned and operated by Barbara Spohn-Lillo, a Board Certified Clinical Anaplastologist (CCA) and Certified Mastectomy Fitter (CF-m), Prosthetic Illusions has been offering custom prostheses along with unwavering personal care since 1981.
Barbara started painting artificial eyes at the age of 16 under the tutelage of her father, Walter Spohn – often referred to as “the father of Anaplastology.” Walter was head of the Anaplastology program at Stanford and director of the Restoration Clinic at the San Francisco VA Hospital. Barbara received her degree as an Anaplastologist-Ocularist in 1980, through a specialized program created jointly between Stanford University Medical Center and the State of California. Through this program, she received advanced training in creating facial and body prostheses. More recently, she has trained her daughter, Chelsea, in the field, and expanded to include breast prostheses.
Barbara has previously served as president, secretary, and charter member of the American Anaplastology Association (now known as the International Anaplastology Association). Currently, she serves as a board member to the Board for Certification in Clinical Anaplastology and an advisor to the board of the Walter Spohn Trust. Barbara has had unique opportunities to help those less fortunate by making her services available through charitable organizations within the Rocky Mountain Region, providing education with local & national non-profit agencies, and participating in medical mission trips around the world. She helped to create the Microtia Clinic alongside Peggy Kelley, MD and Megan Hedman, AuD, at the Children’s Hospital of Colorado, and works with the clinic monthly.
When Barbara is not developing new skills in the lab, she is often spoiling her grandchildren, planning the next adventure with her children, or enjoying the beauty of Colorado with her husband, their two dogs, and two cats.

Emily Wakeley, MS
Patient Care Coordinator
Emily joined our team as Patient Care Coordinator in 2017 after moving across country from Buffalo, NY. She holds a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration from Manhattan College, and a Masters of Science from Buffalo State College. While initially interested in the Educational field, Emily discovered she enjoys working in the medical industry.
In her role at Prosthetic Illusions, Emily is often a main contact for our patients, supporting with appointments and billing. While navigating insurance can be challenging, Emily happily manages this task, making the insurance process a bit easier for our patients. She is willing to investigate coverage for any patient and make sure insurance pays their full portion. Emily has found the field of prosthetics to be a rewarding and fulfilling environment.
In her free time, Emily enjoys traveling the national parks across the country with her husband and dog, running and indoor cycling, and volunteering with dogs at the dumb friends league.
